SJR Junior Nick Pantano was recently nominated to serve as a delegate for the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, which is part of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists. The Congress is a three-day event that will take place from June 26 to June 28, 2024, at the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus; it is intended to celebrate, inspire, and guide the top high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields. “I am really excited for this educational experience and I believe it will prepare me for college and beyond,” Nick explained.

When the event begins, Pantano will meet students from across the country who share his passion for the medical field and learn from guest speakers such as Nobel Laureates, National Medal of Science recipients, and deans from the most prestigious medical universities. The program was created to provide the necessary skills and experience for passionate and qualified high schoolers during a pivotal time when the United States needs an increasing amount of doctors and medical researchers. This program has a reputation for helping highly motivated students like Nick stay true to their dreams, and then help them make their dreams a reality.

Several past delegates have testified that the Congress has positively changed the trajectory of their lives by introducing them to their peers as well as pioneers in the medical field, and by giving them the resources they will need to succeed; Pantano will undoubtedly have a similar experience. Nick said, “I am interested in the medical field and am confident that this program will provide me with some good hands-on and real-world experience.”
