Student of the Week: Jeremy Acosta

Jeremy Acosta '21 pretty much does it all at SJR. The senior most recently earned the school's Heisman High School Scholarship nomination in recognition of outstanding achievement in academics, athletics and community service.

The award came just days after Acosta was installed as a Eucharistic Minister by Fr. Vincent D'Agostino on Fri, Oct. 30. He is a leader in the campus ministry program, co-founding the Marist Youth Club at SJR and serving as a retreat leader for underclassmen.

He has been truly active this school year, serving as an Executive Ambassador, offering private tours to prospective students both after school and at Open House. A bowler and baseball player, Acosta has spent his fall covering sports as opposed to playing them. He recently reported live on Twitter and Instagram for the Green Knights' 43-6 victory over Paramus Catholic in football.

In his spare time, Acosta co-founded a business over the summer. Seeing a need for his neighborhood, he and a friend combined to make homemade ice cream and deliver it to their community during the pandemic. Their business, Preciosa Ice Cream, can be found on Instagram (@preciosaicecream).

Nominated by Mr. LoGuidice and Mrs. Moore.
