About Me

My name is James Hentz and I am thrilled to begin my career at SJR! This year I have the honor of teaching Theology I and Theology I Honors.

Education

I hold a B.A in Catholic Studies and History from Marian University (IN), and I am currently working towards my M.A in Theology from the University of Notre Dame through the Echo Program

Hometown

I am originally from Greenfield, IN (just east of Indianapolis) but now live in Closter, NJ

Ask me about...

My love for the Indianapolis Colts, tennis and running, my time as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, philosophy, baking, books, saints and other random facts and/or historical topics. I like to dabble in all sorts of topics of intrigue.

Why SJR?

I am very excited to be a part of an Catholic all-boys school, where I will be able to serve young men in forming sharp minds and faithful souls. Forming young men for the propagation of the Kingdom of God is something that I am very passionate about. I seek to integrate into my classes the ideals and expectations of what it means to be a vir fidelis in today’s society, using the triumphs (and failures) of the great men of ages past. I am in the unique position as a teacher because my subject matter extends outside the classroom, and even outside space and time, but it still has a role to play in the daily lives of every single student I encounter in a different way.
